Platform Steps
Xfce
  • Applications → Settings → Keyboard → Layout → disable "use system defaults" → add your layout at the bottom → remove the old layout → close

Note: To set the keyboard to your preferred language, run this command to list all possible layouts. [1] Click = Copy Copied to clipboard! localectl list-x11-keymap-layouts

To change the keyboard layout. [2]

Click = Copy Copied to clipboard! sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Make the reconfigured keyboard-configuration change take effect.

Kicksecure-Qubes

To correctly apply changes system-wide via dom0: [5]

  • System Tools → Keyboard → Layout

Alternatively, language localization inputarchive.org iconarchive.today icon can be configured on a per VM basis.

    • After applying this change, shutdown the Template.
    • All App Qubes based on the Template need to be restarted if they were already running.
    • This is a general procedure required for Qubes and unspecific to Kicksecure for Qubes.
